====Tropical Storm 02W====

Already a TS on JTWC (and Tidbits), but JMA is yet to follow suit. True to its future JMA name (''Malakas'', which means "strong" in Filipino), this is now expected to become a strong typhoon, a C3-equivalent typhoon with 1-min winds reaching 120 mph/195 kph. ====Tropical Storm Malakas====
  +
This now just got named by the JMA. Malakas is a 45 mph storm according to JTWC. It's expected to reach 115 mph in five days. Also, according to the latest GFS run, we could be up to four tropical storms before the month ends (that's if that one near and east of the Philippines doesn't get swallowed whole by this storm). 91W.INVEST

Seems no one bothered to update this, but the (second) invest of the 2022 PTS is here, this moved over the southern Philippines over the last few days and is currently in the South China Sea, but it isn't expected to become much there. Still pretty early in the season though. Ryan1000 14:39, 28 January 2022 (UTC)

Long gone. Jas (Anonymous 2.0) (talk) 10:27, 26 March 2022 (UTC)

92W.INVEST

Surprise, Tidbits & NRL are both monitoring an invest east of Mindanao. Not looking likely to form though. Jas (Anonymous 2.0) (talk) 10:27, 26 March 2022 (UTC)

Some of the GFS ensembles on tidbits bring this to a minimal tropical storm before moving into Mindanao, but this invest doesn’t have much time before moving ashore. At best, a depression might form. Ryan1000 21:39, 26 March 2022 (UTC)

And...it's gone. Ryan1000 00:20, 28 March 2022 (UTC)

New invest near the coast of Vietnam. Runner1001 (talk) 00:31, 30 March 2022 (UTC)

Tropical Depression One-W

ASCAT detected a closed LLCC and the JTWC has upgraded to a TD. JavaHurricane 15:16, 30 March 2022 (UTC)

And that is also the last warning from JTWC, as the system is about to make landfall in Vietnam. JavaHurricane 15:27, 30 March 2022 (UTC)

Remnants of One-W

Long gone. Malakas would have to wait a little longer. Jas (Anonymous 2.0) (talk) 22:53, 1 April 2022 (UTC)

April

94W.INVEST

Another invest has been spotted several hundred miles east of Mindanao. Only appears on Tropical Tidbits and NRL for now, but some models take this towards the Philippines as a tropical depression (or even a minimal tropical storm) by next week. Jas (Anonymous 2.0) (talk) 22:53, 1 April 2022 (UTC)

Still code yellow, but this is already bringing heavy rains in various parts of the Philippines, which is very odd for this time of the year (as it is expected to be very hot from April to June in this part of the world). PAGASA is saying that this might become a TD. (Agaton anyone?) Jas (Anonymous 2.0) (talk) 23:56, 5 April 2022 (UTC)
No longer on JTWC but local forecasters in the Philippines are saying that there is still a chance for this invest to form. Still bringing out-of-season rains in various parts of the archipelago. Jas (Anonymous 2.0) (talk) 21:12, 7 April 2022 (UTC)

95W.INVEST

Northeast of PNG, something to watch out for over the medium and long range; GFS expects this system to intensify significantly. JavaHurricane 16:40, 3 April 2022 (UTC)

Some of the runs on Tidbits take this down to 985 mbars or so a week from now, this could be the first typhoon of the season if that comes to pass. Ryan1000 17:20, 3 April 2022 (UTC)
Upped to "medium chance of formation" (orange) by JTWC. Jas (Anonymous 2.0) (talk) 03:26, 6 April 2022 (UTC)

JMA Tropical Depression (95W)

Now a TD on JMA, 1006 mb. Jas (Anonymous 2.0) (talk) 08:42, 6 April 2022 (UTC)

Code red on JTWC. This is now expected to receive the name Malakas. Jas (Anonymous 2.0) (talk) 00:29, 7 April 2022 (UTC)

Tropical Depression 02W

This is now 02W, forecast to become a 105 mph (1-min) storm by JTWC as it moves northwest, well offshore the Philippines but it will probably turn northeast down the road before reaching, say Japan. Ryan1000 13:01, 7 April 2022 (UTC)

96W.INVEST

Yet another invest! This one is west of Sabah, and is expected to move northeast towards the Philippines. Only monitored by NRL & Tidbits for now, but this is something to watch out. I can't believe it, 3 disturbances in April... this feels like July. Jas (Anonymous 2.0) (talk) 21:16, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
