So I mentioned in Bret's archive it was the first tropical storm to make landfall in Venezuela since 1993. The last storm to do so was anotther tropical storm, also named Bret. So, I've decided to go back to see If I could find more coinceidences between 2017 and years prior with the same name list, and also 2016 and list II just for fun.

Let's start with list II.

List II coincidences:

In 1980 & 1992, the 'A' names for the respective seasons (Allen for 1980, Andrew for 1992) were both category 5's. The exact same occurrence also happened with the 'M' names for 1998 and 2016 (Mitch, 1998 & Matthew, 2016)

The only 2 category 5's in the 1990's were from this name list (Andrew in 1992, Mitch in 1998)

In 1986 and 1992, both season's final storm was named 'Frances'. Furthermore, both storms were category 1 hurricanes.

Also, in 2004 and 2016, both season's final storm was named 'Otto', and both storms named Otto, formed just over a month after the storm named Nicole in both seasons.

Twice in history, this list has produced a category 5, after the previous season (the one to use List I) also had a category 5. (1979, 1980 & and 2003, 2004.)

2004 and 2010 had a tropical storm named Bonnie make landfall in South Florida.

Both 2010 and 2016 had a hurricane hit Mexico hard, yet escape retirement.

That's all I can think of for list II. Let's move on.

List III coincidences.

As stated before, a tropical storm named Bret made landfall in Venezuela in 1993, and again in 2017.

In 1981 and 2005, the costliest storm of the season was named Katrina.

In 1987 and 1993, the strongest storm of the season was named Emily.

2005 and 2011 both had tropical storms named Franklin and Gert active at the same time

In 1981 and 2011, a hurricane named Irene had peak winds of 120 mph.

1999 and 2005 both had 5 hurricanes that reached at least category 4

In both 2005 and 2017, a system named Cindy made landfall in Louisiana.

Twice in history, List III had Category 5’s a year after List II’s respective list also had one. (2004, 2005 & 2016, 2017) Furthermore, 2005 and 2017 had multiple Category 5s.

And that's all I can think of. Got any coincidences for these two lists that I missed? Or is there a coincidence from another list (besides these 2) that you can think of?
